Use case: photo studio bookings that stay paid
How a small photo studio can take packages online, confirm only after pay, and stop no-show shoots without a cash-mark-paid culture.
A two- or three-person studio has a simple inventory problem: time with a photographer and a room. When a couple ghosts a Saturday morning engagement session, you cannot resell that hour easily. Prep, travel, and mood boards do not refund themselves.
This guide walks a concrete shape of work on TempahHQ — not as a photoshoot ERP (shot lists, galleries, and editing pipelines stay outside the product), but as booking + money that matches how serious studios already want to run.
The shop
- Industry feel: photo / studio (labels can say Package and Photographer instead of Service and Staff).
- Offerings: e.g. Mini session, Standard portrait, Family package — each with duration and price.
- Optional extras: digital add-ons or rush delivery as catalog add-ons paid with the booking or via payment link.
- Customers: mostly mobile; they found you on Instagram and want a clean book link, not a long email thread.
The failure mode you are leaving
- DM for availability.
- “Hold 10am Saturday for you.”
- Bank transfer “later tonight.”
- Silence.
- You kept the slot cold while another enquiry waited.
Or worse: you shot the session on a soft deposit, chased the remainder for weeks, and your spreadsheet and chat history disagree.
The TempahHQ loop for a package
- Customer opens your public book page (
/book/your-slug). - Chooses a package (service), a photographer (staff), and a time.
- Optionally selects extras (for example a recording or print add-on) when you offer them at book.
- Enters details and pays online for the amount due.
- Only after gateway success is the booking confirmed.
- They get status they can reopen; you see paid state in the owner app.
If they abandon checkout, you do not owe them a confirmed shoot.
That is the same pay-to-confirm law as salons and classes — studios just feel the cost of no-shows more sharply.
What to put on the book page
- Clear package names and durations.
- Honest prices in RM.
- Location or “studio address / online link later” when relevant.
- Cancellation policy customers can read before pay.
You are not building a marketing website inside TempahHQ. You are giving a checkout for time.
Extras without handshake maths
Need an album upgrade after the shoot is booked? Prefer a payment link for the add-on rather than “pay cash when you pick up.” The booking system should not invent a paid state staff typed in by hand.
What TempahHQ is not (for studios)
Out of scope on purpose:
- Shot lists and editing pipelines as core product
- Client proofing galleries as the main value prop
- Multi-branch franchise suites
If your pain is production workflow, use the tools you already love for that. Use TempahHQ so the hour on the calendar only exists when money cleared.
Same idea for salon and classes
- Salon: service + stylist + slot; full pay or disciplined online remainder; fewer chair ghosts.
- Classes / workshops: seat inventory is still time-bound; pay-to-confirm reduces empty seats after “I’ll transfer later.”
The vertical is a label pack, not a separate app. See also Online booking without cash chaos.
